Local SEO

Nobody finds you on Google.

Your customers search for your trade followed by their town. If you do not appear on that search, you do not exist for them, however good your website is otherwise.

The signs

  • You only appear when someone types your exact business name.
  • Less established competitors rank above you.
  • You are not in the map that shows at the top of the results.
  • Your site has been live for months and has never moved in the rankings.

What Google looks at for a local search

Three things, mainly: relevance (does your site clearly say what you do and where), proximity (where the searcher is), and prominence (reviews, citations, consistency of your details across sites). The site's technical side counts, but it comes after.

The most widespread mistake is never naming your area. A site that mentions neither its own town nor the surrounding ones cannot be associated with a local search. Conversely, stacking thirty town names on one page dilutes the signal and ranks for none of them.

The Google Business Profile weighs heavily on map results, and it is often neglected: wrong hours, badly chosen category, no photos, unanswered reviews. It is the most profitable local lever, and the most overlooked.

Method

The actual work

Local SEO turns on a small number of levers, but they have to be maintained. The studio puts the base in place and explains what needs upkeep afterwards.

01

Anchor the site in its area

Your town, neighbouring towns and coverage area named where it reads naturally: titles, copy, structured data, legal notices.

02

One page per real question

A page per problem your customers are trying to solve, rather than one generic page trying to cover everything.

03

A maintained business profile

Exact category, correct hours, recent photos, replies to reviews. That is what decides your place in map results.

04

A sound technical base

Fast site, readable on mobile, correctly marked up, with an up-to-date sitemap. Nothing exotic: these are the prerequisites.

What to avoid

The mistakes we see most often

Stacking town names on one page

Thirty towns in the footer dilute the signal and rank for none of them. A page aimed at a precise area ranks; a page aimed at a whole county ranks nowhere.

Letting the business profile rot

Wrong hours, badly chosen category, photos from 2019, unanswered reviews. It is the highest-return local lever and the most neglected.

Publishing articles nobody searches for

An article a week with no readers does not lift a local business. A few pages that genuinely answer a question beat a steady stream of generalities.

On your side

What we need from you

Local SEO rests on few levers, but they need information only you have.

  • Access to your Google Business Profile.
  • The names of three competitors who rank above you.
  • What your customers type, based on what they tell you.
  • Your real coverage area, the one you actually drive to.

FAQ

The questions we get asked

How long before results show?

Technical fixes and the business profile can move within weeks. Ranking on competitive searches takes three to six months of content and consistency. Anyone promising first place in a month is selling something other than SEO.

Do I have to publish an article every week?

No. For a local business, a few solid pages that genuinely answer your customers' questions beat a stream of short articles nobody reads. Frequency matters less than usefulness.

Do Google reviews really count?

A great deal, on two fronts: they weigh in local ranking, and they decide the click. Volume, recency and your replies all matter. Asking a happy customer for a review is the highest-return action in local SEO.

Where exactly is the studio based?

In Golfe-Juan, in the commune of Vallauris. It is also where it applies what it recommends: this site is optimised for Golfe-Juan and Vallauris first, then the rest of the coast, rather than trying to target everything at once.
